TSgt Anthony Charles Campbell was killed in action by an IED blast while conducting a dismounted patrol in the Helmand Provence. He was deployed from the 932 CES/CED (AFR), Scott AFB. TSgt Campbell deployed to Al Dhafra as a member of the 380 ECES and selflessly volunteered to forward deploy to the Kandahar region.

His death is a great loss to our nation. His family has been notified

35 year old Anthony Campbell Jr. died during a mission but officials don't know exactly when he was killed.  Police say Campbell's wife told them she received an email from him Sunday night, in which he said he had to leave for an overnight mission.  She never heard from him again.

Campbell became a member of the Cincinnati Police department in June of 2008, serving in District One, which covers Over-the-Rhine, Mount Adams, and the West End. He graduated from Boone County High School in Florence.

Campbell served as a Technical Sergeant in the Air Force and was a member of the Reserves.  He was activated on July 6th of this year and deployed to Afghanistan.

Campbell leaves behind a wife, a son and daughter and a stepson.
