On behalf of TF Troy, I deeply regret to inform you that we lost an EOD Soldier, SSG Edmond Lo of the 797th Ordnance Company (EOD), in Samarra, Iraq while conducting combat operations early yesterday morning (Saturday, 13 June). His mother and father have been notified of his death and we keep SSG Lo's family, his unit, and all those who knew him in our thoughts and prayers. SSG Lo was single and is survived by his parents, David and Rosa, of Salem, NH. He enlisted in the Army in 2004 as an Infantryman and served at Fort Campbell, Kentucky until volunteering for EOD duty and attending NAVSCOLEOD at Eglin AFB in 2007. Following graduation, he was assigned to the 797th EOD at Fort Hood, Texas. This was SSG Lo's second tour in Iraq, with his first deployment from 2005 to 2006. He laid down his life for his Country while attached to Combined / Joint Task Force Troy - Multi National Division - North. SSG Lo's bravery and selfless actions have saved countless lives that simply cannot be measured. He paid the ultimate sacrifice protecting others from the hazards of an IED. We are indebted to his sacrifice. He is a Hero to us all and will always be remembered as a true Soldier and EOD Warrior. He will be sorely missed by all.
A memorial ceremony will be held on 15 June 2009 at FOB Taji, Iraq to honor SSG Edmond Lo. There we will pay tribute to him, and the sacrifice he made so others could live and be free. |
